There is nothing quite like the flavour of Mulberry Jelly.

Tiptree’s Mulberry Jelly is made from mulberries grown in a small orchard at the back of the factory. The trees are as much as 150 years old and some young trees planted recently are expected to bear fruit within 20 years or so. Our ancient Mulberry trees at Tiptree provide a rather erratic crop of this rich and much prized fruit.

The delicate berries stain hands when picking which is where the term “caught red handed” originates from, as it's rather obvious if somebody has picked a juicy Mulberry!

The unique taste of the fruit in the soft texture of the jelly lets it almost melt in your mouth.

You can taste the fruitiness!

This is a great jam/jelly. Versatile enough to have on bread and butter or toast, but goes equally well with hot or cold roast meats or meat alternatives.

What a beautiful jam, Mulberry’s are my most favourite fruit, eating off the tree without caring if there maybe a fly or two, the mulberry flavour is so full of wanting more & more what maybe on the berry is no concern. This jam/jelly is the most delicious, completely giving the true sweetness & flavour of the fruit. If this jam was ever in short supply, I’d never portray it’s greatness!!

Unusual Jelly - Pass the Parcel

Tiptree certainly has an array of unusual jams, preserves and jellies. Such a treat for one’s family.
I especially order a mixed box of the unusual offerings to give out as Christmas presents. They go down a treat. It is a bit bulky but we play several rounds of Pass the Parcel with the items wrapped up etc. Great fun and swaps take place.

Our History

Our History

The ‘Tiptree’ story begins around the early 1700s with Trewlands, the farm that was later to become the main site for jam-making in the Essex village of Tiptree. Today, there are some 11,000 inhabitants in what may well be the largest village in the country.

Today, we have a plentiful supply of a huge range of fruits, sometimes in many different varieties too. Yet it wasn’t always that way and thousands of years ago, the very first preserves were created in order to store that goodness for year-round use.

Our farm is LEAF Marque accredited (Linking Environment And Farming), recognising that we work sympathetically with our environment and encourage links with our local community. Fruit crops include strawberries, raspberries, mulberries, Morello cherries, rhubarb, damson, Victoria plum, greengage, quince, and the curious medlar.
