Spiced Marmalade Cake

One of those cakes that you wonder why you have
never made it before.
Ingredients

175g Butter

8tbsp Golden Syrup

2 Eggs

200g Tiptree Orange Marmalade

350g Self Raising Flour

1tsp Baking Powder

1tsp Ground Cinnamon

1tsp Grated Nutmeg

1/2 tsp Ground Cloves

150ml Full Cream Milk

50g Corn Flakes
Directions
Grease and base-line a 20cm square cake tin.
Beat the butter with half of the syrup. Beat the eggs and stir them well into the mixture.
Stir in half of the Tiptree Orange Marmalade. Sift together the flour, baking powder and spices. Add this to the butter mixture, pouring in just enough milk to make a stiff mix.
Pour the mixture into the prepared cake tin. Roll the Corn Flakes to crush and mix together with remaining syrup and marmalade then spread evenly over the top of the cake.
Bake at 180C, gas mark 4 for 1 hour. Turn out and leave to cool.
