Musical fun on the Tiptree Farm!

The seventh Little Scarlet Music Festival took place in the Jubilee Orchard at Tiptree Farm. This is a festival for the local community, and is named after the variety of strawberry which is unique to the Wilkin Estate at Tiptree, Essex.

This year the proceeds of all tickets sold will be donated to the Tiptree Community Hub.

Local drama group KYDS opened the main stage with songs from Joseph and his technicolour dreamcoat, and six local bands performed on the stage made from Tiptree lorries.

The line up of local bands this year was as follows: Ecto Peach, The Other Party, JamJar, East Creek Union, Mr B & The Wolf, and the headliner was Ska Town Syndicate, who encouraged everybody up to dance.

In between the band performances, festival visitors were encouraged to sing in the ‘Busk Stop’ tent, with some remarkable performances.

There was plenty for children to do in the children’s area, with an opportunity to be creative, as well as race against friends, or to design and decorate sunglasses.

Face painting, henna tattoos and hula hooping were enjoyed, with local stalls offering crafts.

Following the success from last year, local brewery Datum Attitude Brewing Co brewed their “Send more Jam” strawberry beer again, using berries from the Tiptree farm.

Event Organiser Jeanette Lynes said "It was our seventh music festival and the local community of Tiptree did it again... a sold-out event with fun for all the family! Each year it just gets better and better and, personally, it is such a pleasure to play a part in putting so many smiles on so many faces, young and old, as well as raising money for a deserving local cause. Well done to Wilkin & Sons and well done to the people of Tiptree!"

Joint Managing Director Scott Goodfellow thanked everyone at the end of the festival, and commented “We’d like to thank the bands, the support staff, and in particular all the visitors who came along to have fun, raise funds for a worthy cause, and enjoy a bit of ska dancing.’
