English Afternoon Tea is served on a three tier cake stand with freshly made sandwiches, homemade fruit scones, jam and clotted cream and a selection of our miniature individual sweet patisserie items to finish. With your choice of tea or coffee or a glass of champagne!

Now let's talk about the scones and cream teas!

The tradition of cream tea took off in the Westcountry after the tourism surge of the 1850s, spurred by the advent of the railway. Visitors flocked south in search of relaxation and indulgence, and they found a warm welcome in hotels, tearooms, farmhouses, and cafés – all of which offered delectable afternoon cream teas crafted from the finest local ingredients.

The jam was almost always strawberry, and the cream was invariably clotted, and that still remains today!

However, the famous question still debated; Cream or Jam First?

Did you know that there is a day to celebrate Cream Teas!

National Cream Tea Day is organised by Rodda’s Cornish Clotted Cream and ourselves. Together we donate up to 50,000 portions of jam and cream every year, through our joint organisation, The Cream Tea Society, which supports fundraisers and charities to put on their own cream tea events. To date, this has helped to raise over £1.4 million for hundreds of charities across the UK.
